Getting started with Gale Research Complete: Tools & Features

What tools are there?

Some very useful tools are available within the Gale Research Complete database. These tools are found in all parts of the databases and can help students to do research.

These include;

  • Topic Finder
  • Citation Tools
  • Highlights and notes

Topic Finder

This tool displays a visual representation of your results by showing the keywords that are found most often. The titles, subjects, and approximately the first 100 words from a subset of your top results are fed into an algorithm and are analyzed for frequently occurring and related terms.

Citation Tools

Every article and primary source has a citation available for the student to use.

This accessed from the top tool bar - it can be copied or used in reference management software such as a RefWorks or Mendeley.

Highlights and Notes

The Highlight and notes tool is used to highlight parts of an article that a student wants to save and use (rather than saving the whole article). Once the text is highlighted, then a note can be added

All highlights and notes are accessible through the toolbar at the top of the page - this can be downloaded or sent to OneDrive or GoogleDrive
